Taniwani's NZ track in.  On the way I came across a couple of useful things.....   GPSU  permits multiple windows of eg Track Summary which is a great help in filtering multiple tracks. And another useful thing is that OpenCPN doesn't have nearly as much trouble with large files when they consist of many separate sections.   It seems likely that a simple fix to a long track might be simply to toggle the S/C column at reasonable intervals.
